NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope Captures New Image of Active Galaxy Centaurus A

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured a new image of Centaurus A, an active galaxy located 11 million light-years from Earth. The image, taken on July 6, 2026, using the telescope's Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI), shows the galaxy.

Centaurus A is relatively close in cosmic terms and, unlike most nearby galaxies, is very active. This activity makes it a powerful laboratory for understanding how galaxies and black holes grow and evolve together.
