The next actor to portray James Bond will be announced by the end of the year, according to producer Amy Pascal. She told the trade magazine Deadline that this period represents a realistic timeframe for the decision.
Replacing him is no easy task
Pascal described the legacy of Daniel Craig as leaving huge footprints. She stated that the new beginning for the franchise must be brave, rousing and different from previous entries.
Pascal produces the upcoming film after Amazon MGM Studios took over the franchise. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson handed over creative control of the series to the studio in the past year.
Creative team and casting search
Canadian director Denis Villeneuve, known for the Dune series and Blade Runner 2049, will direct the new adventure. British screenwriter Steven Knight, involved in Peaky Blinders, is set to write the screenplay.

British casting director Nina Gold, who worked on Conclave and Hamnet, has been hired for the search. Insiders indicate the role is to be played by a relatively unknown British actor in his late 20s or early 30s.
British media have named Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Callum Turner and Australian Jacob Elordi as possible candidates. Pascal previously served as co-chairwoman of Sony Pictures from 2003 to 2015.
Franchise history
During Pascal’s tenure at Sony, the studio distributed and financed Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. Those four films were produced by Broccoli and Wilson.
EON Productions, founded by Albert R. Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, produced these 25 films with six actors. The first film, Dr. No, was released in 1962.
After Saltzman left in 1975, Broccoli continued the series alone. From GoldenEye in 1995, his daughter Barbara and stepson Michael G. Wilson took over as producers. The last EON-produced film was No Time to Die in 2021.
