Porsche CEO Michael Leiters has stated that the company will build an electric 718 model. The electric 718, which includes the Boxster and Cayman, remains in development.
Leiters noted that the transition to electric mobility is not progressing as quickly as anticipated when European Union CO2 targets were established.
Last year, Porsche took a $6 billion writedown to slow the pace of its electrification strategy.

Platform and Model Outlook
The electric 718 is expected to share a platform with the upcoming electric Audi TT. Meanwhile, the Taycan and the Audi e-tron GT are built on the same platform.
The company has also advocated for the use of e-fuels, which are synthetic fuels produced from captured CO2 and hydrogen from electrolysis.
