Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven has expressed optimism about the club's direction following a busy summer transfer window in which the club spent £237 million ($316 million) on new signings.

Van de Ven's comments come after a tumultuous 2023-24 season for Spurs, which saw three different managers take charge. The club finished 17th in successive Premier League seasons and narrowly avoided relegation on the final day.
Thomas Frank managed the team for less than eight months before being sacked, and Igor Tudor served as interim manager for 44 days. Roberto De Zerbi took over for the final seven matches, winning three of them, as Spurs finished two points above 18th-placed West Ham United.
Last season was a stressful season, unacceptable from our side.
In the summer, Spurs invested heavily, spending £85m to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, £100m for Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, and £52m for Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton. They also made free transfers of Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson, and Martin Dubravka.

Van de Ven believes De Zerbi will have the team playing better football, helped by new signings and a full pre-season. He added that the new signings bring good energy and have lifted the mood at the club.
