Red Bull has appointed Roger Schmidt as its head of global soccer. The 59-year-old German will take charge of Red Bull's global soccer portfolio starting October 1, replacing Jürgen Klopp in the role.
Jürgen Klopp, who is 59, is now the new Germany manager. He was appointed as the Germany coach on July 24.

Schmidt has previously coached RB Salzburg, Bayer Leverkusen, Beijing Guoan, PSV Eindhoven, and Benfica. He coached RB Salzburg between 2012 and 2014 and left Benfica in August 2024. He is currently leaving his position as the global sports director of the Japanese J-League at the end of September.
Red Bull owns clubs in Germany, the United States, Brazil, and Austria, including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, and New York Red Bulls. The Red Bull portfolio also includes Paris FC, and Red Bull has a stake in the French Ligue 1 side Paris FC.
Schmidt has signed a long-term contract with Red Bull, the company announced.
