Amazon's Ring is upgrading its Peephole Cam with 2K resolution.
The brand has debuted the Peephole Cam 2K, a smart doorbell camera designed to replace a door's peephole. The device consists of two halves that connect through a door's existing peephole and can be installed without drilling holes or running wires.
The new model features a video recording resolution upgrade from 1080P to 2K and provides a 140-degree field-of-view. It does not include a preview screen on the inside of the door.
Specifications and availability
The device includes a removable battery with an estimated 120 days of use between charges. It is available in three colors: Speckled Gray, Speckled White, and Matte Mocha. The Speckled White and Matte Mocha options cost an additional $10.

The Peephole Cam 2K replaces the brand's Door View Cam, which first debuted in 2019. Accessing specific package alerts and reviewing recorded events for up to 180 days requires an additional Ring Protect plan.
The camera is available for preorder on the Ring website and Amazon. While some reports list the price as $99.99, others refer to it as a '$99 camera.' Shipping is expected to begin on August 19 or later this month.
