Romano Schmid is leaving Werder Bremen to join the Italian club Frosinone Calcio, which has been promoted to Serie A.

The transfer fee for the Austrian national player is a high single-digit million amount and could rise to ten million through bonuses.

Werder Bremen's professional football managing director Clemens Fritz stated that the offer from Frosinone Calcio meets the club's economic interests and Schmid's personal wishes. Fritz also noted that Schmid matured in Bremen into a good Bundesliga and national player.

The sale allows Werder Bremen to be active in the transfer market again following the departure of the player, whose contract previously ran until June 2027.
