The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has proven resistant to a bend test despite its wider new shape. YouTuber JerryRigEverything subjected the device to a durability test and then took it apart, showcasing its internal design.
According to the teardown, the outer screen scratches like any other glass phone, but the inner panel takes damage from basically anything. The inner display has a soft layer that can easily be damaged, even by a fingernail, and the assembly finishes with a plastic layer that remains vulnerable.

To strengthen and flatten the inner display, Samsung uses titanium, and the teardown proved the titanium backplate by means of fire. The device lacks Qi2 magnets, and the Qi charging ring is placed very low on the device.
During the bend test, the hinge stayed together and the frame did not break, contributing to the device's overall resistance. Samsung's foldables are described as rather strong and resilient.

The teardown also revealed that Samsung adopted silicon-carbon battery technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 8, though the battery itself is labeled only as lithium-ion. The device is powered by a Galaxy-specific Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 5.5-inch outer display with 120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, a 4,800 mAh battery with 45W charging support, and a dual rear camera system with a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The inner display shows an almost invisible crease.
Based on the teardown's assessment, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is in much higher demand than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
