Smartphone maker Tecno has announced a new 'Borderless Concept Phone' with a display that features zero bezel thickness, a design it says is made possible by advanced internal component placement, new display packaging techniques, and structural engineering changes.
The company will present the concept device at the IFA 2026 trade fair in Berlin, Germany, in September 2026. While Tecno has not yet shared full technical details of the technology, the company says specifics are expected to be announced at the event.
Tecno engineers say they had to go beyond conventional production methods to achieve the ambitious design. The concept is minimalist and represents a forerunner of technologies Tecno plans to use in its next-generation devices, according to the company's official statement.
To showcase the design, Tecno shared comparison images of the concept phone alongside Apple's iPhone 17 Pro. Reports based on these images differ on the extent of the achievement: one describes the gaps at the edges of the screen as having completely disappeared, while another says the bezels appear noticeably thinner than those of the iPhone 17 Pro rather than entirely absent.

Despite the near-edge-to-edge design, the phone does not feature a completely uninterrupted front. It retains a hole-punch cutout on the display to house the selfie camera, Tecno confirmed.
According to Tecno's official statement, the display offers a true edge-to-edge image with almost no visible bezel around it. The structural engineering changes enable this edge-to-edge display covering the phone's front.
Tecno believes the 0 mm bezel technology has the potential to set a new design standard for all future smartphones, the company said.
