The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has decided to implement a chipped ball system in the Trendyol Süper Lig. The technology is scheduled for introduction during the second half of the league season.
TFF Vice President Mecnun Otyakmaz told TRT Spor that the federation intends to introduce the chipped ball technology in January or February. He described the system as one of the upcoming innovations for the league.

Technical capabilities and VAR assistance
The technology utilizes a high-precision sensor system located in the center of the ball, which is integrated with Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) (claim:9). Sensors inside the ball track movement and the first contact by players at millisecond speed, sending data instantly to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) center (claim:10).
The system is designed to speed up VAR reviews and assist in handball reviews (claim:7). The 'Connected Ball' technology uses vibration waves transmitted by the sensor to clarify whether the ball hit a player's hand or chest (claim:12).
The chipped ball technology determines the moment the ball leaves the foot to assist in drawing offside lines (claim:11).
The technology aims to determine the exact moment of ball contact during offside reviews and identify the specific player who touched the ball (claim:6).
Implementation and new regulations
Funding efforts are ongoing for the chipped ball technology due to high installation and operating costs (claim:8). Regarding player conduct, Mecnun Otyakmaz stated that, in line with the International Football Association Board (IFAB) decision, the TFF will initially apply a yellow card penalty for players covering their mouths while speaking.
