Trusco Nakayama has released the Do Hiemon Box, an oversized stainless-steel refrigerator designed to accommodate a human being. The unit is intended to offer quick relief from potential heat exhaustion or heatstroke rather than serving as a lounge area.
The product has been sold to steel mills, construction sites, golf courses, universities, and leisure facilities since it went on sale earlier this year. According to Trusco Nakayama, approximately 200 Do Hiemon Box booths have been sold.

Once a person sits inside, the device maintains a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius and blows jets of 5-degree air. This cooling capability comes as summers in Japan become hotter and more humid, with temperatures regularly exceeding 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit).
The Japan weather agency has introduced new terminology for sizzling-hot days, and the national broadcaster NHK routinely issues warnings regarding heatstroke risks. Fumiaki Matsubara, general manager of Trusco’s product division, stated the concept focuses on preventing heat-related conditions from worsening.
