A flash flood hit the Shuangshimen Scenic Area in Gansu province.
On July 26, 2026, a flash flood struck the Shuangshimen Scenic Area in Gansu province, a location known as a popular camping spot. Footage of the incident showed a deluge rushing through a valley where vehicles and tents were stationed.
The death toll in Weiyuan county, Gansu, rose from an initial report of 10 to 25. Additionally, the flash floods in the province resulted in 23 injuries.
Following the incident, China's National Commission for Disaster Prevention, Reduction and Relief requested that the provincial government investigate the flood and improve emergency response measures, stating that the commission would oversee the investigation.
