The Houthi group in Yemen announced a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia.
On July 20, the Houthi group in Yemen announced a maritime navigation ban and naval blockade against Saudi Arabia. The group stated that this measure was taken in retaliation for a blockade on areas under their control in Yemen and as part of a 'siege for a siege' equation.
Following the announcement, several vessels, including oil tankers, reportedly made U-turns or changed course near the Bab el-Mandeb strait. The group also claimed to have targeted Saudi oil tankers and sensitive crude oil supply points with missiles and drones.
