-
· date approximate · Background
The Chinese yuan reached a previous high level against the US dollar.
In early 2023, the Chinese yuan (onshore) strengthened to reach its highest level since February of that year. During this period following a Federal Reserve decision, the currency's daily midpoint was set at a strengthening point, marking its strongest fixing since the preceding February.
During these fluctuations, the onshore yuan traded near 6.7551 per US dollar, while the offshore yuan traded around 6.7530. These movements occurred as the US dollar faced a period of weakening before recovering some losses due to geopolitical tensions.
