The Chinese yuan strengthened to its highest level since February 2023 on Thursday, according to market data.

The offshore yuan traded around 6.7530 against the US dollar as of 1045 GMT, one market source reported. The onshore yuan traded near 6.7551 per US dollar, according to another source.

The People's Bank of China set the yuan's daily midpoint at 6.7892 per US dollar, its strongest fixing since February 2023, a separate report showed.

The US Federal Reserve left its benchmark interest rate unchanged at a range of 3.5% to 3.75% on Wednesday, as the central bank announced.

The US dollar weakened after the Fed decision but later recovered some losses amid heightened geopolitical tensions, market observations indicated.
