Knut Kircher, Managing Director of the DFB-Schiedsrichter-GmbH, stated that video assistant decisions should occur within a maximum of 60 to 90 seconds to ensure clarity. The goal for video assistant decisions in the new season is to be as fast as possible.
Kircher noted that if a video assistant requires a fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth angle or view, the review no longer provides the desired clarity.
The error must jump out at you, the decision must jump out at you immediately.
Disciplinary protocols
Regarding player confrontations, Kircher stated that a player who covers their mouth during a confrontation with an opponent will receive a yellow card instead of a red card, unlike the protocol used in the World Cup. He cited FIFA's three-stage protocol regarding racist insults as the reasoning for not issuing red cards for covering the mouth.
