The European Commission and the SpaceRISE consortium have signed an implementation agreement to roll out IRIS², the European Union's new flagship satellite constellation. This agreement marks the transition of the IRIS² programme from the planning stage to full-scale deployment.
Under the terms of the implementation agreement, 66 satellites will be added to low Earth orbit. The main IRIS² constellation is intended to consist of a total of 348 satellites.
