Kim Le Court Pienaar wins sixth stage of Tour de France Femmes

The Mauritian cyclist won a small group sprint in a stage featuring 2,500 meters of climbing.

Kim Le Court Pienaar of AG Insurance-Soudal won the sixth stage of the women's Tour de France in a small group sprint. The 153 km stage ran from Montbrison to Tournon-sur-Rhone and included 2,500 meters of climbing.

French national road race champion Celia Gery of FDJ United-Suez was alone at the front of the French group during a descent. She was caught by five women 31 km before the end of the stage.

Riejanne Markus of Lidl-Trek and Kim Le Court Pienaar attacked on the Cote de Boucieu-le-Roi climb, an effort that left eight riders competing for the victory.

The Mauritian cyclist made a decisive move 300 meters before the finish line. Pienaar overtook Cedrine Kerbaoli of EF Education-Oatly and Dutch cyclo-cross star Puck Pieterset of Fenix-Premier Tech in the sprint.

General Classification and Standings

Swiss cyclist Marlen Reusser of Movistar is the leader of the Tour de France Femmes. Reusser holds a 12-second lead over Demi Vollering of FDJ United-Suez in the general classification.

Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx-Protime leads the points classification after winning two sprint stages. Meanwhile, Liane Lippert competed at the front during the sixth day but did not secure a second stage victory.

Liane Lippert finished sixth, stating the breakaway was difficult to join and her sprint position was suboptimal, though she expressed confidence in the team’s prospects; the stage included the Côte de Boucieu-le-Roi and the category-two Lalouvesci climb, with the breakaway holding a 30-second lead over the favorites, who finished 28 seconds behind, while Antonia Niedermaier retained the White Jersey but slipped one place in the general classification.
