The 2027 Ram 1500 will be available with a non-hybrid 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine, marking a shift from previous versions. Starting early in the 2027 model year, Ram will phase out the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 eTorque and replace it with a non-hybridized version of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8, a Ram spokesperson told Car and Driver.
Every Ram 1500 pickup sold with the Hemi engine in 2026 included the eTorque mild-hybrid system. This system, which has been used since 2019, utilizes a 48-volt battery and a belt-driven motor-generator to replace a traditional alternator. The 2027 non-hybrid 5.7-liter Hemi V8 will lack the automatic stop-start feature.
While most Ram 1500 V8 models for the 2027 model year will be non-hybrid, a limited number of eTorque hybrid versions will still be produced during the transition. The transition to the non-hybrid setup will occur at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant.
Engine Specifications and Lineup
The traditional 5.7-liter Hemi engine produces 395 hp (294 kW) and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) of torque. It will retain the Multi-Displacement System (MDS) cylinder deactivation, which shuts down four cylinders under light loads.

For the 2027 model year, the Ram engine lineup is expected to include a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a 777 hp (580 kW) supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8, and multiple Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six engines.
