The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) has released a second batch of 8,500 Sipsik-themed €2 commemorative coin cards.
The commemorative coins celebrate the 65th anniversary of Sipsik, a character from Estonian children's literature. The initial run of 8,500 collector's edition Sipsik coins was sold out following the first issuance in early June.
A total of 17,000 Sipsik-themed coin cards are being released as collector's items. The release of the new batch of 8,500 cards does not increase the total circulation of the coins, as they were taken from the existing stock of one million coins.

The commemorative coin cards, which include the coin inset, are priced at €12.40 each. Customers were permitted to purchase a maximum of two coin cards per transaction.
Design and Availability
The Sipsik coin card was designed by graphic artist Vladimir Taiger, who also designed Estonia's kroon currency used from 1992 to 2010. The coin's design is based on original artwork by Edgar Valter, with the coin itself created by designer Ivar Sakk. The text for the card was written by artist and writer Piret Raud.
The €2 commemorative coins serve as legal tender throughout the euro zone. The Sipsik coin cards were available for purchase at the Bank of Estonia museum on Estonia pst 11. The museum shop remains open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
