Estonian industrial enterprises produced 4.6% less output in constant prices in June 2026 compared to the same period last year, marking the fifth consecutive month of decrease in industrial production in Estonia.
Seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 2.3% in June 2026 compared to May, while seasonally adjusted manufacturing production fell by 0.9% during the same period.
Manufacturing sector trends
Manufacturing production decreased by 5.3% in June 2026 compared to the same period last year. Riin Kadarik, chief analyst at Statistics Estonia, stated that manufacturing production has been declining for five consecutive months. In June, production increased in one-third of manufacturing activity areas but decreased in two-thirds.
Among the five largest manufacturing activity areas, production decreased in wood processing by 2%, food production by 3.3%, metal products by 1.5%, and computer, electronics, and optical equipment by 13.2%. The decline in computer, electronics, and optical equipment was affected by lower production of communication devices and measurement, testing, and navigation equipment.

Food production also fell by 3.3% in June, marking a sixth consecutive month of decline in food industry volumes compared to the previous year, though the rate of decline slowed compared to May. Other factors influencing the manufacturing decline included a drop in furniture production and the repair and installation of machinery and equipment, driven by lower repair and maintenance of civilian ships and boats.

Energy and mining performance
Energy sector production decreased by 12.6% in constant prices compared to the same period last year. Riin Kadarik noted that the decline in electricity production was primarily due to increased imports.
In contrast, mining sector production increased by 26.7% compared to the same period last year. Kadarik stated that favorable weather conditions positively affected peat production.
Market and export data
In June 2026, exports of manufacturing output increased by 2.6% compared to the same period last year, while sales to the domestic market decreased by 4.4%.
In current prices and seasonally adjusted, the sales volume of manufacturing output in Estonia remained at the same level compared to June 2025.
