Food and beverage emerged as the highest category of tourism expenditure in Turkey during the first half of the year, according to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
According to TÜİK data, tourists' spending on food and beverage reached 5,904,388,000 US dollars during the first six months of the year, representing an increase of approximately 9 percent compared to the same period last year.

Breakdown of tourism revenue
According to TÜİK data, Turkey obtained a total of 25,746,177,000 US dollars in tourism revenue during the first half of the year.
According to TÜİK data, other spending categories recorded during this period included 2,196,385,000 US dollars on clothing and footwear, and 890,164,000 US dollars on souvenirs.
According to TÜİK data, revenue from sports, education, and culture was 248,992,000 US dollars for the January-June period, while other types of expenditures totaled 617,929,000 US dollars.
