The share transfer of Turkish Bank A.Ş., an institution with roots dating back to 1901, has been completed. US-based Freedom Holding Corp. has acquired 99.31% of the shares of the bank through its subsidiary.
Following a decision by the general assembly, the commercial title of Turkish Bank A.Ş. was changed to Freedom Bank A.Ş. Applications for the Trade Registry have been made following this decision.
It is unconfirmed whether legal approvals from the Competition Authority and the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK) were completed on July 1, 2026. Additionally, it is unconfirmed whether the shares held by the National Bank of Kuwait and Özyol Holding A.Ş. were transferred as of July 31, 2026.
New Leadership
Vladimir Pochekuev has been elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. Hikmet Cenk Eynehan was appointed as the General Manager and a Member of the Board of Directors.
With the acquisition, Freedom Holding Corp. has entered the Turkish financial sector under the brand 'Freedom Bank'.
