The German Federal Cabinet has decided to mint two silver special coins in 2027. The issuance follows a long-standing practice in Germany of using special coins to honor significant personalities and cultural milestones.
One coin will commemorate the 75th birthday of singer Tamara Danz. Danz was a prominent German rock musician during the 1980s and 1990s and served as a leading female voice of rock music in the GDR (German Democratic Republic) until her death in 1996.

State Minister Wolfram Weimer stated that these special coins tell stories about the country and illustrate its cultural identity. Previous German special coins have honored figures and events such as Immanuel Kant, Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, Loriot, the Berlinale, and the Bayreuth Festival.
