Gresini Racing confirmed on 31 July that Fermin Aldeguer will miss the British MotoGP at Silverstone, the 12th round of the MotoGP World Championship.
Aldeguer is set to miss the event due to ongoing recovery from injuries sustained at Assen, where he crashed during practice at the Duikersloot turn. The crash resulted in a fractured T7 vertebra. Doctors opted for conservative treatment involving rest rather than surgery.
Aldeguer has not raced since the accident at the end of June, missing both the Dutch races and the German MotoGP. While his teammate Alex Marquez also crashed at the same turn during that weekend, Marquez was able to compete and finished fifth on Sunday.
Iker Lecuona, a factory Ducati WorldSBK rider, will replace Aldeguer at Gresini Ducati for the race at Silverstone.
Lecuona previously filled in for Alex Marquez at the Hungarian Grand Prix in early June, finishing seventh in his first MotoGP race since 2023.
Aldeguer has received medical clearance to resume training starting 15 August, making a return to racing at Aragon between 28–30 August possible.
