Japanese logistics company AZ-Com Maruwa plans to adopt the yen-pegged stablecoin JPYC to make payments to its transportation contractors, including truck drivers.

The payment rollout will cover approximately 2,300 transportation contractors, according to reports. The initiative is described as Japan's first large-scale corporate stablecoin rollout.

The rollout aims to enable contractors to receive digital yen payments more frequently and quickly than with conventional methods. The firm seeks to attract more business partners by offering faster stablecoin payments, according to Nikkei.

The move is framed as a response to labor shortages in Japan's logistics sector, though not all reports cite this as a motivation.
