Kazakhstan is advancing a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency mining that would require operators to meet specific infrastructure standards and transfer a portion of their mined assets to a state-controlled reserve, according to official documents.
A presidential decree was signed on July 7, and a supporting government resolution was approved on July 18, the sources said. The plan is described as part of a two-step push by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Under the proposed rules, miners would be required to meet strict infrastructure standards. Additionally, they would need to transfer a portion of the crypto assets they produce to a state-backed reserve.
