Patreon is laying off 20 percent of its workers.

The layoffs were first reported by 404 Media. Patreon CEO Jack Conte communicated the decision in a memo to employees.

Conte stated that the company's core business remains strong. He said the platform must respond to market changes and adjust its cost structure to ensure stability.

Despite citing artificial intelligence as a transformative force in the sector, Conte wrote that the company is not making these changes because it believes AI replaces humans.
