A Pitbull concert at the Mežaparks Great Bandstand in Riga, Latvia, was canceled at the last minute due to technical issues.
Amount of tickets sold for the Pitbull concert in Riga, according to Latvian public broadcaster LSM.
Following the cancellation, Joonas Kušvid, head of personal claims at If P&C Insurance, said two of his customers contacted the company after booking other accommodations and arrangements. However, the event did not qualify as an insured event because it was canceled by the organizer.
Tuuli Pärenson, chair of the Estonian Insurance Association (EKsL), stated that standard travel insurance often does not cover losses caused by an organizer canceling an event.
In cases like this, the insurance policy should be more than the basic coverage.
Pärenson noted that not every Estonian insurer offers additional coverage for canceled events. In Estonia, LHV and BTA Insurance offer optional coverage for canceled events.
Joonas Kušvid of If P&C Insurance confirmed that his company's travel insurance does not cover expenses when an event is canceled by the organizer.
