The port is owned by the TVF and operated by the Republic of Türkiye State Railways (TCDD).
Under the current operating and investment model, ownership of the port remains with the TVF, and no transfer of concession will occur. The TVF stated that it is starting a comprehensive transformation process at Izmir Port to increase the long-term value production capacity of strategic assets.
Cargo and passenger operations
Izmir Port is divided into two main sections: a cargo port and a passenger port. The operating activities of the cargo port will be carried out by Alport, a company with international experience in the field.
The cargo port is expected to continue providing service without interruption to its operations while modernization investments are implemented gradually. This transformation program includes the rehabilitation, renewal, and modernization of existing infrastructure and superstructure, alongside growth investments to support the development of the port.
The operating and investment model for the passenger port will be handled within a separate structure to address its specific needs. The project aims to develop the service capacity of the passenger port and include commercial, social, and cultural areas that integrate with the port and its surroundings.
