The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) announced that the application evaluation processes for the "Digital Turkish Lira Project" ecosystem participation call have been completed. The application process consists of three stages.
The first stage was completed between September 4 and October 15, 2025, with 85 project applications submitted. Among these, 16 banks and 25 payment and electronic money institutions applied. Following the first stage, TCMB approved 51 projects to proceed to the second stage.
Project applications submitted in the first stage of the Digital Turkish Lira Project.
The second stage applications were conducted between November 13 and December 12, 2025. After evaluations, 23 projects belonging to 12 banks and 6 payment and electronic money institutions were selected to proceed to the third stage.
The third stage will involve development activities and sandbox tests. TCMB also noted that a project can be associated with more than one category, which explains the category distribution of the 23 projects: 15 in Tokenization, 17 in Programmable Payments, 7 in Self-Sovereign Identity, 15 in Interoperability with Existing Systems, and 1 in Machine-to-Machine Payments.
Additionally, TCMB put 6 projects on hold following the second stage evaluations. These projects may be included in the third stage in the future.
