The Turkish General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) released a weather report for August 13, warning of rain and thunderstorms in 35 provinces across Turkey. A yellow code warning has been issued for 15 provinces: Balıkesir, Bursa, Çanakkale, Edirne, İstanbul, İzmir, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Manisa, Ordu, Sakarya, Samsun, Sinop, Tekirdağ, and Yalova.
Regional Forecasts and Warnings
In the Marmara region, the eastern part, the inner parts of Çanakkale, and the northern part of Balıkesir are expected to have rain and thunderstorms. Strong winds and storms with speeds of 60-80 km/h are expected in the Marmara and North Aegean regions. These winds could lead to falling trees, flying roofs, and transportation disruptions. In the Aegean region, winds are expected to be stormy in the North Aegean.

Heavy rainfall is expected locally in the vicinity of Sinop, Samsun, Ordu, and Giresun. MGM has warned of potential risks such as sudden floods, inundation, landslides, lightning, and disruptions in transportation due to the heavy rainfall. In the Mediterranean region, local rain and thunderstorms are expected in the Toroslar area, Osmaniye, and the northern parts of Adana. Central Anatolia will see local rain and thunderstorms after noon in the northern and eastern parts of Ankara, as well as in the vicinities of Çankırı, Kırıkkale, and Yozgat.
The Western Black Sea region will experience intermittent rain and thunderstorms throughout the region, as will the Central and Eastern Black Sea regions. In Eastern Anatolia, local rain and thunderstorms are expected in the northern parts, particularly in Erzurum and Kars, starting from noon. The weather in Southeastern Anatolia is expected to be partly cloudy and clear.
Temperatures
Temperatures are expected to decrease slightly in the northern parts of Turkey, remain above seasonal norms in the southern parts, and stay around seasonal norms in other areas. The highest temperatures will be in the southeast, with Şanlıurfa expecting 41°C. Other notable temperatures include İzmir and Muğla at 38°C, Adana at 36°C, Bursa at 34°C, Çanakkale at 33°C, and Ankara at 32°C.
