German energy company Uniper has raised the lower end of its full-year earnings outlook following a strong first half of the year.

The company expects its adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, and depreciation), excluding special effects, to be between 1.1 billion and 1.3 billion euros. The lower end of this forecast is 100 million euros higher than previously expected.

Uniper also expects its adjusted net profit to be between 500 million and 600 million euros. In a worst-case scenario, the adjusted net profit would be 150 million euros more than previously expected.

Background and ownership

Uniper became unstable in 2022 as Germany's largest gas importer when Russia stopped supplying gas following the attack on Ukraine.

The German federal government has initiated the resale of its shares in Uniper, though it may not fully divest immediately. An IPO (Initial Public Offering) for Uniper is under discussion.

Uniper's profit surges as the company lifts the lower end of its 2026 earnings outlook.
