Fermin Aldeguer will move to the VR46 racing team for the 2027 MotoGP season. Valentino Rossi will serve as the team boss for Aldeguer during this period.
Ducati placed its factory-contracted rider at VR46, which will remain the manufacturer’s official satellite team in 2027. The decision nearly collapsed Ducati’s relationship with the Gresini team.
Aldeguer scored his first victory at the Indonesian Grand Prix. He is currently out injured following a crash at the Dutch Grand Prix, and missing the British GP is a possibility.
Working with Rossi
At first, it’s a bit intimidating.
Despite the initial intimidation, Aldeguer sees value in the arrangement. He stated there are few people better than Rossi to learn from and that he intends to take advantage of the opportunity.
Rossi will not be present at every race. However, Aldeguer has been told he can call Rossi for anything related to racing. He believes this advice will help him improve and become a better rider.
Factory team ambitions
Aldeguer is expected to be partnered by World Superbike dominator Nicolo Bulega at VR46. His ultimate goal remains reaching the Ducati factory team.
I believe it will happen one day.
Aldeguer said he understands why Ducati chose Pedro Acosta to join Marc Marquez next year, noting the manufacturer wants the best riders. He acknowledged that while Marquez is strong, his future duration is uncertain, and Acosta has many years ahead.
With a factory bike, Aldeguer feels Ducati’s support and is more at ease. He stated that he still has plenty of time to make it to the official Ducati team.
