The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) in Estonia rose 0.5 percent in July compared with June, according to a preliminary estimate by Statistics Estonia.
Compared with July 2025, the index increased by 2 percent. These figures are flash estimates and will be refined once more detailed data on July prices are received.
Mark Herman Ilumets, a consumer price statistics analyst at Statistics Estonia, stated that higher housing costs, along with accommodation and food services, had the biggest impact on the July index.
Methodological differences
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) uses the consumption structure of Estonian residents as weights and does not include tourist expenditure. In contrast, the HICP takes into account expenditures made by tourists and is comparable to the international HICP standard.
July is peak tourist season in Estonia, a factor reflected in the HICP but not in the CPI.
Publication schedule
Statistics Estonia will publish the CPI data for July on Friday, August 7. The finalized HICP data for July is scheduled for release on August 18.
