The Hong Kong Exchange (HKEX) announced a major overhaul of its listing rules on Friday, marking the most significant set of reforms since 2018.
The measures are designed to lower thresholds and attract a wider range of initial public offerings (IPOs) to the bourse.
As part of this initiative, HKEX will immediately reduce market-capitalization requirements for both startups and international firms seeking to list on the exchange.
In a move toward greater flexibility, HKEX will allow all listing applications to remain confidential, proceeding with a filing process proposed in March.
The exchange is relaxing these rules specifically to bolster its competitiveness against rival markets, particularly those in the U.S.
This push for global competitiveness continues even as the HKEX is increasingly dominated by Chinese companies.
